Beauty and the Beast (1946) – Directed and written by Jean Cocteau. Scored a 95% on RottenTomatoes and a 92 on Metacritic.

Amelie (2001) – Directed and written by Jean-Pierre Jeunet (nominated for an Oscar for writing). Nominated for 5 Oscars. Scored a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 69 on Metacritic.

The Boy in Striped Pajamas (2008) – Directed and written by Mark Herman. Scored a 64% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 55 on Metacritic.

Boyz N The Hood (1991) – Directed and written by John Singleton. He was nominated for an Oscar in both categories with this film. ‘Boyz N The Hood’ scored a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 73 on Metacritic.

Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001) – Directed by Sharon Maguire and written by Richard Curtis. Renee Zellweger was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actress. ‘Bridget Jones Diary’ scored an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 66 on Metacritic.

Chocolat (2000) – Directed by Lasse Hallstrom and written by Robert Nelson Jacobs (nominated for an Oscar for writing). Hallstrom has been nominated for 3 Oscars, for Best Directing and Writing in ‘My Life As A Dog’ and Best Directing in ‘The Cider House Rules.’ ‘Chocolat’ was nominated for 5 Oscars (Best Actress, Supporting Actress, Picture, Writing, Music). ‘Chocolat’ scored a 63% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 64 on

The Music Room (1958) – Directed and written by Satyajit Ray. ‘The Music Room’ scored a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
