First Images of ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’

I need someone to explain to me why Ghost Rider 2 is necessary. ‘Ghost Rider’ (2007) was butchered by critics across the board. It scored a 27% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer and earned a 35 on Metacritic. Those numbers don’t scream sequel. For whatever reason, Nic Cage really believes in the project, to the point where he actually took a pay cut to ensure that the movie happened. Maybe it’s because the first installment wasn’t a complete disappointment in the box office, earning $228.7 million worldwide ($110 million budget). Unless the new boys sharing the directors seat (Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor) that brought the world the insane and disturbing ‘Crank’ franchise, and Christopher Nolan’s Batman writer David Goyer, can reinvent nearly everything about the first movie, then this sequel will burn up like the unlikely hero’s face.

‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’ is set to release on February 17, 2012.
