Tuesday Blu-Ray Forecast: July 26, 2011

Here is a breakdown of the Blu-Ray DVD’s that are being released today:

The Blues Brothers (1980) – Directed and written by John Landis (Animal House, Twilight Zone, Coming To America, An American Werewolf in London), with the assistance of Dan Aykroyd on the script. ‘The Blues Brothers’ is a cult classic and scored an 85% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer. John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd starred in the film.

National Lampoon’s Animal House (1978) – ‘Animal House’ was also directed by John Landis and was penned by a trio of Harold Rammis, Douglas Kenney and Chris Miller. This movie defined a college generation and scored a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 82 on Metacritic. John Belushi was the face of this movie.

Trust (2010) – Directed by former ‘Friends’ star David Schwimmer (2nd film directed) and written by Robert Festinger (Nominated for Oscar for writing in ‘In The Bedroom’) and Andy Bellin. ‘Trust’ scored a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 60 on Metacritic. Clive Owen stars in the film.

Dylan Dog: Dead of Night (2010) – Kevin Munroe directs and a duo of Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer penned the script. This comic book adaptation was mutilated by critics, earning a 3% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 31 on Metacritic. The ‘Man of Steel’ Brandon Routh stars in the film.

Dante’s Peak (1997) – Directed by Roger Donaldson (Thirteen Days, The Worlds Fastest Indian) and written by Leslie Bohem. ‘Dante’s Peak’ earned a 28% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 43 on Metacritic. Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton star in the film.

Red Planet (2000) – Directed by Antony Hoffman and written by Jonathan Lemkin and Chuck Pfarrer. ‘Red Planet’ earned a 13% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 34 on Metacritic. Val Kilmer stars in ‘Red Planet.’

Soldier (1998) – Directed by Paul Anderson and written by David Peoples (Oscar Nominee – Unforgiven). ‘Soldier’ was slayed by critics, earning a 10% on Rotten Tomatoes. Kurt Russell stars in this film.

High and Low (1963) – Directed by Akira Kurosawa (Oscar Nominee – Ran). ‘High and Low’ earned a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Life During Wartime (2009) – Directed and written by Todd Solondz (Nominated for Globe – Writing in ‘Happiness’). ‘Life During Wartime’ earned a 68% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 69 on Metacritic.

Winter in Wartime (2008) – Directed and written by Martin Koolhoven.  ‘Winter in Wartime’ scored a 77% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 66 on Metacritic.
