Harry Ties 5-Day Record Pace, Becomes Highest Grossing Franchise

On Tuesday, Harry Potter crossed the $200 million landmark in the domestic box office in 5 days, tying ‘The Dark Knight’s’ pace.  As many expected, HP7 Pt. 2 fell behind TDK’s pace on day 5.  ‘The Dark Knight’ cleared $203.8 million in that span of time and ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’ made $202.6 million.  The only other movie that has made it to $200 million in 5 days is ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.’

Yesterday, Harry might have conquered his most substantial foe in the record books to date.  The total worldwide gross of the eight Harry Potter movies moved past the total gross of the six Star Wars movies, making it the highest grossing franchise on a worldwide scale.  The Star Wars saga earned a total of $2.218 billion and the Potter saga has now collected $2.223 billion.

If this stat nauseates you like it does me, please find comfort in the fact that the six Star Wars movies more than doubles the eight Harry Potter films in total tickets sold.  The force is still stronger than any wand that can be made by Ollivander in Diagon Alley.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’/Batman Animated Series Teaser Trailer Mash-Up

Today is July 19th, which means we are officially one year away from the release of ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’ To commemorate that, here is an animated take on the new teaser trailer that was released earlier this week. The creator of this video did an amazing job of taking clips from Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League Unlimited, and Under the Red Hood and marrying it with the audio from the actual teaser trailer. It’s pretty ridiculous how well the video imitates the actual trailer with the animated clips. Enjoy!

The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Trailer Attached to Harry Potter

I have been stalking the Tomatometer this whole week watching each new fresh review come in for ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II’.  Currently the finale to the highest grossing movie saga ever is sitting at 100% with 20 reviews.

There is no denying that Harry Potter garners enough excitement of his own, but according to SuperoHeroHype, a teaser trailer for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ will be attached to the beginning of the finale.

“We’re hearing that the teaser trailer is a minute and 33 seconds long and will play in 3D  theaters, 2D theaters and IMAX 3D screens.”

SuperHeroHype also is reporting that the first trailer for ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ and a second trailer for ‘Happy Feet Two’ will play at the front end of the film.

Two things The Tomato Monster loves: Potter (primarily the books) & The Dark Knight. This news might have secured my spot at a midnight showing.

By the way, The Tomato Monster will be tracking any and all news pertaining to ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, so make sure to check back in.
