First Trailer for ‘Haywire’ (Steven Soderbergh, Channing Tatum, Gina Carano)

Stephen Soderbergh (Oscar Winner – ‘Traffic’, Nominated for ‘Erin Brockovich’) is supposedly retiring from directing, but that isn’t stopping him from taking risks. Despite the fact that he has filled his cast with a lot of solid names, his leading lady, Gina Carano, will be making her feature film debut. Carano is an MMA fighter, and Soderberg was flipping through the channels one night when he came across one of Carano’s fights, and decided he had to use her to tell a story. She plays the role of a covert agent that is betrayed by someone within the agency, and she won’t stop until she gets revenge.

Carano is joined by Channing Tatum, Michael Doublas (Oscar Winner – ‘Wall Street’), Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas, Michael Fassbender, Bill Paxton and Michael Angarano. Lem Dobbs wrote the screenplay for Soderbergh, and though he has only written three films, he has never failed yet, with his most notable work coming in Frank Oz’s ‘The Score.’

The budget for ‘Haywire’ is $25 million.

‘Haywire’ is scheduled for release on January 20, 2012.
